When Boundaries Slide Into The Wake

The new Impression 50.1 brings together design elements that make the Impression line truly stand out. From the opening transom and optional outdoor galley, to twin wheels, L-shaped keel, split cockpit table, and incredible visibility, the 50.1 offers innovation after innovation.

Detailed To Perfection

The Humphrey/Elan design team have used insightful and successful 3D conceptualization to create a functional yet versatile cockpit. The split table and the fold down transom allow owners and guests to be dining while others enjoy a swim.

When sailing moving forward and aft on deck safely and securely is tantamount to voyaging success. The 50.1 boasts jib tracks running adjacent to the cabin side for narrow sheeting angles, providing excellent upwind performance. Shrouds mounted through the rail give the mast maximum support with longest possible spreaders and a very clean decks.

Maximizing performance and interior space in this large 50-footer brings the beam well aft and introduces the desire for twin rudders in the Impression range as well as the standard twin wheels. These rudders work in concert to relieve helm pressures when heeled, increase directional stability at all times, and to increase sailor and auto pilot performance.

The U-shaped amidships galley puts the work space in the best place for meal prep. It also opens space aft for a large main cabin head or that mythical extra cabin. This forward galley is Elan thinking in the right direction.

The Impression 50.1 is a powerful passagemaker with the tools necessary to manage sailing at the push of a button. With four cockpit winches standard, the jib and genoa trim can be a crew or helmsperson responsibility. These winches also allow for flying the jib and a large reacher or spinnaker at the same time, an excellent sail combination for long, fast reaches. The performance aspects of the design are still augmented by incredibly comfortable on-deck relaxation spaces.

The interior of the 50.1 is ground-breaking. With the galley forward, the main cabin and aft cabins live in a much larger space than available on other 50-footer interior designs. The Impression line’s commitment to letting light in, while allowing sailors to see out with ease, is wholly supported by the hatches, deck lights, and hull ports found in the cabins of the 50.1. Whether inside or outside, on passage or at rest, happiness is the predominant emotional state aboard the Impression 50.1.

The standard four cabin, three head layout for the Impression 50.1 is a balanced combination of sleeping space and storage. If you need more cabins, choose the five cabin option, a masterful use of space for a boat this size.
